Puerto Peñasco

Puerto Penasco – or Rocky Point as it is called by those of us who know and love it – is perhaps one of Mexico’s best kept secrets. Although, we are rapidly beginning to show on the “radar” of sophisticated travelers everywhere. A scant sixty miles south of the Arizona border, Rocky Point is so much more than a sleepy little beach town. Already compared to Cancun and Cabo, we have recently been recognized as one of the fastest growing resort development areas in the world. First class dining, amazing shopping, and some of the best medical and dental care available – all of it remarkably affordable – have helped to make this wonderful location “the place” for savvy vacation homeowners and intelligent investors alike.

Obviously, the seemingly endless stretches of beautiful sandy beaches are a huge factor in our appeal. When combined with the warm Sonoran sun and the gentle waters of the Sea of Cortez, Rocky Point is a water sports lover’s Mecca. From an energetic romp on a “Banana Boat”, to the simple delight of a sunset cruise on a “real” Pirate Ship – complete with the “traditional” Belly Dancers and fireworks – to the sheer joy of a spin around the bay on one of the hottest new wave runners, if you love being on the water, you will find your choices almost endless. Of course, it is also possible to find that “perfect” place to simply sit and watch the action, while enjoying your favorite Mexican food and drink.

As wonderful as it is to enjoy the fabulous beach and all of the activities that it offers, Rocky Point has so much more to offer. Vast stretches of dunes and desert beckon ATV riders of all ages and skill levels. Home to many exciting off-road racing events, Rocky Point is also the location for one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the Southwest. And for those who prefer to see the scenery at a slower pace, the area surrounding Puerto Penasco offers some of the most interesting terrain in the world. Featuring and Internationally renowned Biosphere, the Pinacate has both geological formations and species of plants unlike those to be found elsewhere. They even used the Pinacate as the testing site for the famous Lunar Rover from the Apollo space program. Even bird watchers have plenty to keep them occupied. From the soaring majesty of the Eagle, to the almost cartoon like antics of the Roadrunner, to the elegant beauty of the graceful sea birds that hunt for their dinner in the tidal pools along the shore, there is always something extraordinary to see. All the while enjoying the warm sun and cool breezes that have made this such a popular spot for those of us who knew the “secret” for all these years.

Well, the secret is out. Soon Rocky Point will have both an International Port of Entry airport – the first runway and terminal building are expected to be fully operational by the end of the year – and a modern new coastal highway that will make San Diego a quick and safe four and a half hour drive to the sea. With Puerto Penasco’s inclusion in the Federal Government of Mexico’s exciting new Mar de Cortez program for recreational marina development, the future is clear. Brand name hotels, world class shopping and dining opportunities, more and different options in vacation and retirement accommodation, sophisticated medical and dental facilities offering treatment of the highest quality at remarkably affordable cost, and an endless supply of sand, sun, sea all will contribute to a future brighter even than the stars shining in the velvet black of the Mexican night sky.

Come see for yourselves why we love this amazing place, but be prepared to not want to ever leave. But don’t worry, we have the perfect place for you to stay – read on!
